The Theater Academy is directed by our Drama Director Heather Schmulian. Ms. Heather graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Dramatic Art Honors degree from the University of Witwatersrand South Africa and a Teacher’s Licentiate in Speech and Drama (Cum Laude) from the University of South Africa. She has more than 35 years of experience teaching theater and is currently a member of Florida Association of Theater Education and Educational Theater Association. Ms. Heather arrived in U.S. in 2001 from South Africa where she ran one of the largest drama schools in the country. Since arriving in Boca Raton, she was instrumental in creating an Interdisciplinary Arts program for a South Florida high school and was the director of drama for a private Pre-K – 12 grades school. She has directed numerous Drama and Musical Theater Camps and for the past 6 years has directed the successful musical theater DRAMAWORKS camp at Boca Prep.

The Theater Academy will offer creative musical drama classes and workshops for all upper school students beginning in MYP 1 (grade 6). Students enrolled in the program will perfect their skills each morning between 8 a.m and 10 a.m. Enrollment in TPP offers automatic enrolls each student in the Thespian competition troupe. With this schedule, students are able to continue to have a full IB curriculum, while using the elective hours for the performance program.
